Recent Queries

In the archives module, you can view your search history by clicking on the Recent Queries link on the left side of the screen. You will be presented with a table outlining your recent searches with links to the following:

  • Your search set number (#)
  • The number of hits retrieved by your search (Hits)
  • Your search string
If you click on the hyperlinked number in the Hits column, you will be returned to the search results screen for that query.

If you click on the search string in the Query String column, you will be presented with a search screen where you can edit the terms you used in your query.

You can also Combine Search Sets on the Recent Queries page.

Maintaining Recent Queries

Your Search History, located on the Recent Queries page, is divided into two sections. The first part of this table contains the last 10 searches conducted prior to today’s date. These stored searches will always be numbered from 1 to 10, #1 being the most recent search and #10 the oldest. The second section lists Today’s Searches, beginning with #11.

Your search history is reset each day at 3:00 a.m. Eastern Time. Today's Searches will shift to the Search History section on a daily basis. For example, if you performed three searches today (which would be labeled as searches #11, #12, and #13), these will be stored with your previous searches as #1, #2, and #3 tomorrow. Your three oldest searches, previously labeled as #8, #9, and #10 would be "bumped" off the list.

If you prefer not to disrupt your previous searches (#1 through #10) when your Search History resets at the end of each day, you will need to use the Clear Today button (located at the bottom of the Recent Queries page) before the end of the day to prevent your list of stored queries from changing.

If you would like to clear your entire history at any time, you may do so by clicking the Clear All button (located at the bottom of the Recent Queries page). Remember that Clear All will permanently delete ALL searches - both those from today (#11 and higher) and previously issued searches (#1 through #10).

You may also delete individual queries by clicking the del link to the right of the query you wish to remove. Please note that you will always have 10 stored searches in the first section. If a query is deleted from this group, a query older than #10 on your list will be retrieved from our server to fill in the list.
