About our radio content
Our radio content includes access to automatically-generated transcripts and audio files from 50 Canadian radio stations. These 50 stations represent a diverse geographic sample of Canadian regions, and include the most prominent (by authority and audience size) stations in each region.
Radio is monitored 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
There are three ways you can access radio content:
- Personal Profiles
- Browse Radio
- Search Radio
1. Radio content in Personal Profiles
Each radio station is a separate "source" in FPinfomart.ca, which allows you to add any or all radio stations to any or all of your Personal Profiles. Radio results will be intermingled with your other Profile results.
2. Browse Radio
Clicking the "Browse Radio" button under the Broadcast Monitoring section of the left-side navigation menu will bring you to a screen which lists all 50 stations we monitor. Just like with all of our Browse Latest News functions, you may click the name of a station to view all of the current day's content. You'll be able to use the date navigator to view any day's content within the last 10 days.
3. Search Radio
Click the "Search Radio" button under the Broadcast Monitoring section of the left-side navigation menu to bring up a Quick Search form which allows you to search the day's radio content by keyword or phrase. Just like Quick Search in other areas of the site, the keyword or phrase you enter will be searched exactly as you type it. By default, all radio stations are searched, though you can drop down the source selection menu to choose an individual radio station.
As well, we show you the current day's results by default, however you may use the date navigator to view any day within the last 10.
To view the transcript of any clip, click the headline (usually the program name). Once the full text transcript is open, you can adjust the start time and length of the transcript, and associated audio clip. Click Play on the audio player to hear the clip.
Downloading Radio Content
You can download a permanent MP3 copy of any radio clip on FPinfomart.ca. Once you've adjusted the start- and end-time of your clip within the Transcript view screen to encompass the material you wish to download, click "Download MP3" from the Document Tools menu in the top right corner. Ensure that your e-mail address is correct, and click the Submit button.
It can take a few minutes for your radio clip download to be prepared. You will receive an e-mail when your clip is ready to download. Click the link in your e-mail (or visit the Downloads page via the Broadcast Monitoring menu on FPinfomart.ca to check the status of a download request). Your download will remain available for 24 hours from receipt of this e-mail.
Please note that ALL radio downloads incur a charge of $50. Radio download fees are NOT included in your Broadcast Monitoring plan and will appear as a separate charge on your monthly invoice.
If you wish to add radio monitoring to your subscription, please contact your sales representative for pricing details.
